Incumbents are expected to participate and pass a physical fitness assessment,provide law enforcement protection and related services for the University covering both life and property,maintain peace and order, and enforce University rules and regulations, as well as state and federal laws. This posting is for multiple open positions and may hire anyone that meets the qualifications for either a University Police Officer I, II, or III. These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included Officer I: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Experience: No experience required but must receive certification with the Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training within the first year of employment. Additional Requirement: Must be 21 years of age. Officer II: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Experience: One (1) year of experience and must have a certification with the Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training within one year of employment. Licensure: Must have a valid driver’s license upon employment Additional Requirement: Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen. Officer III: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Experience: Six (6) years of experience and must have a certification with the Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training within one year of employment. Licensure: Must have a valid driver’s license upon employment Additional Requirement: Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
